A Photography Session Wardrobe Guide


We'd love to guide you in choosing outfits that make you feel beautiful, confident, and completely ready to celebrate your family. This guide is designed to take the guesswork out of planning, so you can simply look forward to creating beautiful, timeless memories together.


Coordinate, Don't Match: Let's move beyond matching outfits and create a stunning, harmonious palette. Select a few complementary colors and weave them throughout the family's wardrobe. This thoughtful approach adds depth and sophisticated visual interest to your images.


Add Texture and Movement: I highly recommend incorporating fabrics like linen, chunky knits, lace, and soft cotton. These textures photograph beautifully and give your images a rich, high-end feel. For dresses and skirts, choose something with beautiful flow—it adds an element of graceful movement and organic charm that makes your portraits feel alive. Please choose outfits you can easily move in. We will be sitting, cuddling, and moving around :)


Opt for Timeless Elegance: To ensure your portraits remain classic for a lifetime, it's best to avoid clothing with large logos, distracting patterns, or very bright colors. Simple, elegant outfits allow the genuine emotions and connections of your family to be the central focus of every frame.


A little attention to the small things goes a long way. Please make sure shoes are clean, hair is styled, nails are neat and accessories are subtle.


Choosing Your Color Palette


I love working with a clean, cohesive color palette to create the luminous, dreamy quality you see in my work. To ensure a beautiful and seamless result, please choose one of the following two curated palettes for your session.


~ Soft Blues & Gentle Greys

~ Creamy Beige, Peaches & Nudes


You can also keep the palettes below with you for reference when choosing your outfits. Remember to select one of the two color schemes for your session.


One more thing, if your baby is between 0–12 months old, we have a studio wardrobe with beautiful outfits available for your little one — at no additional cost. Please enquire with us ahead of time :)

Sá Pires Studio specialises in newborn lifestyle photography, maternity/pregnancy sessions, family photography, and event coverage (Christenings / Birthdays) in Alenquer, Lisbon, and throughout Portugal. I work from my photography studio, offer sessions in the comfort of your own home, or on location sessions -- like in a beautiful vineyard or an olive tree grove. Photography sessions are available in English and Portuguese.

I specialise in newborn lifestyle photography, maternity/pregnancy photography, family photography, “smash-the-cake” sessions, Christmas mini-sessions, as well as Christenings and birthday celebrations.
